As I was coming from church last night, I began to weep. I called my sister to share my frustrations, but not before talking to God. I was emotional because of the lack of enthusiasm in some of God's children for wanting a closer relationship with God. When did we start letting circumstances, laziness, and money come before our commitments to God? When will the excuses stop?
I am trying not to fuss and cry at work, but it is disheartening to see God's children suffer unneccesarily. The first commandment is for us not to place anything above God (paraphrasing). This means we are supposed to keep God first in everything that we do. Yet, some of us have become so complacent that you forget who God is. Let me remind you: God is the author and finisher of times. God is more powerful than any CEO. He has more strength than any man and can fight and win more battles than any army. He is the GREAT I AM. He is the Lord of Lords. All praise, honor, glory, and respect belong to God.
So why is it we treat Him as if He is just one of the guys? I understand that sometimes the inevitable happens and things are out of our control. But to constantly push God to the side and only praise Him when you feel like it, is just wrong. God does not gripe and complain everytime He blesses us. He did not change His mind about sending Jesus to die for our sins. He does not put us on the back burner because He has a headache. We are not greater than God. I don't know about you, but I thirst for God. I get excited about learning His word. If I have breath in my body, I'm going to praise God. Obedience is better than sacrifice.
It is time to stop playing church and truely worship God. He has been so good to us, yet we take these blessings for granted. As soon as He takes them away, we want to curse God and question His judgment. God is not at your beck and call. Yes, He is an on time God. He doesn't always come when we want Him, but He is always on time.
I pray that the children of God will start acting like children of God. You chose to serve God. That means serving Him through your time, talent, and tithes. I can only encourage you to look within yourself and ask God to help you grow stronger and wiser in His name. Aren't you tired of wandering in the wilderness? It is time to come into the promise land. The devil is trying to steal our blessings, kill our spirits, and destroy our foundation. I refuse to give up and let the devil win. What about you?
