Rising above Haters

Recently I've seen some young women posting, what I feel is, inappropriate messages on Facebook.  I will not disclose who they are or what the posts said.  Nevertheless, it alludes to the fact that they have haters and they don't like what these haters are saying.  I'm sure most people want to be liked by all they encounter.  Truth is you won't.  There will always be someone, somewhere who does not like the way to talk, walk, dress, or look.  You can not change that.

What you can change is the perception you give them.  If they are going to talk about you, let them talk your praises.  If they can not do that, do not feed into their egos by giving them negative images.  Young ladies, I hope you are really listenting to this message.  I too have had haters.

There were, and probably still are, women that rolled their eyes at me and talked smack behind my back because they were jealous of my relationship and wanted my man.  There were some that didn't like me because I was a star student.  There were even some who chose to hold grudges against me because of their own unhappiness.  I understand how this can upset some of you and make you feel insecure, but you must come to a place of peace and rise above the urge to slander someone's character.

Do not give these 'haters' the victory over you.  If I had let any one of these females break me down, I would not be where I am today.  I would not have acheieved the level of success I have today.  Ladies, the high road is never easy, but it is neccessary for growth.  There will always be people who do not want to you succeed.  Some of which you may be calling your 'friends'.  These people have internal issues that they have yet to work past.  And until they do, they can never be truely happy.

I urge you not to retaliate against them on social networking sites.  Do not talk 'smack' to them in halls at school or spread rumors about them.  Instead, pray that they get their lives together.  Their unhappiness and jealousy will only hinder their progress, not yours.  Please remember that Jesus had the ultimate haters, but He rose above them in the end.  When you feel like you don't know what to do, call Him.  He always has the answer.

Let God's love be your motivation!
