The Transition

So I've finally made up my mind.  I'm going natural!!!  This is probably the biggest commitment I've made in my life.  Bigger than motherhood and marriage.  This is something just for me.

It took 39 weeks for me to prepare for the birth of my daughter and 8 months for me to plan my wedding.  My transition from relaxed to natural hair will take at least a year.  It isn't as easy as it looks.  I spend more time prepping my hair for the next day and maintaining styles now, than I did with my relaxed hair.  Friday, I wacked off 3 inches.  With my busy schedule, I don't have time to sit in a beauty shop for hours.  So I do the next best thing, learn the trade & do it myself.  For once, in a long time, I felt free.  In a way it is liberating.  I didn't care what anyone else thought of my hair.  I just rocked my frizzy locks.

This process is probably not for everyone.  You have to be willing to endure the bad hair days and countless hours of finding products and styles that work for your new doo.  Other family and friends have chopped all of their hair off & practically started from scratch.  I am so not that brave right now.

My point is that sometimes you have to put yourself first & do what's best for you.  Transitioning is about rediscovering your inner self and loving it.  I plan to transition as long as it takes to get back to my roots.

Mission: Self - exploration.  I choose to accept.

Be love.
