This Real Housewife.

There are a lot of "real housewives" shows on television these days.  Everyone claims to be the best, but is only made relevant by the amount of drama they bring to the show.  I have never been one to get in the middle of drama.  I try to live and teach my daughter to be meek and humble as Christ.  His relevancy was made possible by the positive contributions and sacrifices He made.

Right now, I must break down the "real housewife".  To say that you are real implies that there is nothing "fake" about you.  Yet, every thing I see is an act or stunt to gain more recognition or viewers.  Real is not befriending person A, then feeding them to the wolves when person B comes along.  Real is not spreading lies to gain status or pretending that your bleep does not stink.

Every housewife I know keeps it real. We don't flaunt, stunt, or change colors like a cameleon when a camera is rolling.  Real is being true to yourself and the ones you care about.  Real is being the same person on yesterday, today, and tomorrow.  Real is being able to recognize your weaknesses and work towards improving them.  Real is loving thy neighbor and treating others with kindness and respect on and off the set.  Real is God's love.  Real is the grace and mercy that allowed you to have a platform to promote real housewife issues.

What I do not understand is how you can be a housewife and not be a housewife.  In order to be a housewife you have to be the current wife.  Yes I said it, current.  I understand that the reality of life is that some people are or might become former wives, but to act as if you are still current is an illusion that magicians cannot master.  It all goes back to being real.  Don't flaunt what you cannot afford.  Even if you can afford it, you should still not flaunt it.

1 Peter 3:1-7 says that a wife's beauty should come from within and not outward adornment.  When the make-up fades and the jewels tarnish, the only thing that is left is your inner beauty.  Would you rather be remembered for your heart, compassion, humility, meekness, kindness, generosity, or your flashy, superficial, and judgmental ways?

This real housewife is striving towards being the Proverbs 31 woman.  My house runs under the principle of submission and the rule of God.  Which simply means I know my role and play it proudly.  I will probably never be on the "real housewives" show, but I will always be a REAL house wife.
